Fed: How FuelWatch will work

From December 15 .. motorists will be able to check an internet site or wait for a
text message telling them where to find the cheapest petrol in their suburb or town.

The FuelWatch scheme .. which has been running in Western Australia since 2001 .. will
be run nationally.

Each day petrol stations in metropolitan areas and regional centres will have to send
their prices for the next 24 hours to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The commission will then put those prices online and will also offer a text message
subscription service .. giving motorists plenty of opportunity to know the price of petrol
before filling up.
