Fed: Asylum seeker boat makes it to Christmas Island

A boat carrying 60 suspected asylum seekers has eluded border protection authorities
and arrived at Christmas Island.

The vessel .. the 54th to arrive in Australian waters this year .. landed at Flying
Fish Cove yesterday afternoon.

Despite the latest boat making it to Christmas Island without being intercepted ..

Home Affairs Minister BRENDAN O'CONNOR .. says the government remains vigilant and committed
to protecting Australia's borders.
