Complimentary Internet Application Helps Industry Establish Control Obligations For Boilers

PHILADELPHIA, April 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- By EPA's estimate, new Clean Air Act rules for boilers and incinerators may affect nearly 200,000 facilities. Companies looking for guidance in managing compliance can turn to myMACT.com, a complimentary online application developed by Dixon Environmental to assist with managing regulatory compliance and controlling HAPs (hazardous air pollutants) at major and minor (area) sources.

The HAP compliance application makes it easy for personnel at regulated facilities to assess applicability and manage compliance at effected emission units. myMACT.com includes regulatory information and equipment requirements and an online application that allows personnel to automatically determine applicability and outline compliance requirements through simple data inputs. myMACT.com also provides access to free compliance and reporting information including initial notification templates and applicability updates as rules change.

myMACT.com was developed with input from the American Coatings Association (ACA), Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) and National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM).

John Hopewell, Assistant Director of Environmental Affairs at ACA volunteers, "Our members are diligently working to ensure compliance, and myMACT.com simplifies the process, especially on the equipment side. With myMACT.com, our members are able to fulfill requirements easily and efficiently, while proactively responding to changes."

Bill Allmond, Vice President, Government Relations at SOCMA adds, "myMACT.com is ideal for facilities required to comply with EPA's Boiler rules. Dixon Environmental has developed a resource that is comprehensive and intuitive, allowing compliance managers to quickly and easily navigate through the requirements."

Currently myMACT.com focuses on the recently promulgated Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) Boiler Generally Available Control Technology (GACT) and Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards, benefitting facilities with process heaters and boilers. Future enhancements will integrate Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE) GACT and MACT standards to improve compliance at facilities with electrical generators.

Moving forward, Dixon Environmental will involve ACA, SOCMA, and NAPIM among others in the application's evolution and provide metrics to support shared advocacy efforts. "We really want to make this valuable for users," said Mike Dixon, P.E., President and CEO, Dixon Environmental." As the voice of their members, having the support of these groups only supports the success of the application and their industries. I welcome other groups that wish to participate."
