Vic: Man critically injured after being thrown from ute
A man riding in the tray of a ute was critically injured last night when the vehiclecrashed into a tree in Melbourne's north.
Police say another man travelling in the tray was thrown onto the road and a male passengerin the front was also injured in the accident which occurred on Mount Alexander Road,near Buckley Street in Essendon, about 7.30pm (AEST).
Police allege the driver left the scene of the accident before emergency crews arrived,but he has since contacted them.
Those involved in the accident were all males aged in their early 20s.
The critically injured man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
