NSW: AMA Report Card on Government Hospitals

Health officials say the New South Wales government misled the public when it announced
a $2.1 billion cash injection into state public hospitals.

Australian Medical Association state president DR KERRYN PHELPS says an economic analysis
of the three-year injection reveals only $105 million was additional funding.

She says the rest has been made up of forward budgets that would have gone into the
system anyway.

DR PHELPS says the state government's announcement on the funding was misleading and
had been deliberately phrased so that people thought there would be enough money to fix
problems in the system.
