Fed: Australian aid worker leaves for El Salvador

World Vision Australia aid worker JIM WACKETT will join the international relief effort
in El Salvador following the worst earthquake to hit Central America in 20 years.

Mr WACKETT will help World Vision El Salvador with urgent distribution of commodities.

He has previously worked in East Timor, Rwanda, Kosovo and New Guinea, and departs
Sydney tonight for El Salvador.

The death toll from the quake last night rose to 609, with a further 2,375 people injured.
